MAC Cosmetics is launching on Boots online and in stores across the UK and Ireland.

On Wednesday, the make-up company announced that from 29 July an edit of its ultimate hero products will be available to purchase via the Boots website and in over 100 of the retailer’s locations.

MAC says it hopes the new partnership will invite new customers, make-up novices and make-up lovers to experiment with its products by making them more accessible.

“This is an exciting time for MAC, as a brand we have always set the industry standard and by joining forces with Boots we are making prestige cosmetics and artistry more accessible to high street shoppers,” said Fiona Sainty, vice president of MAC Cosmetics UK and Ireland.

Terry Barber, director of make-up artistry at MAC, added that the partnership was a “natural step” for the beauty brand.

“Everybody shops at Boots! The idea that they now will carry some of the MAC legends, like Studio Fix, Strobe Cream or Fix+, is exciting. MAC is a people’s brand and through Boots, it’s now closer to the consumers who love it,” he said.

Online customers will have access to MAC’s “Lip Shade Finder” tool, which allows customers to find their new favourite lipstick by comparing more than 200 shades and textures on their skin tone, as well as a curated line-up of products.

While Boots will initially stock an edit of MAC make-up, more products will become available from September through December, and customers will also be able to seek expert advice from fully trained artists.

As the launch coincides with National Lipstick Day, Boots will giving away a complimentary MAC Ruby Woo Retro Matte Lipstick to customers that buy any other MAC product.

There will also be a chance for customers to win a virtual consultation with a MAC senior artist, along with a full face of MAC make-up by joining the waiting list on Boots.com from Wednesday 22 July.

By signing up before Monday 27 July, five lucky waiting list customers will win a virtual 121 session along with £250 worth of MAC make-up, while an additional 500 waiting list customers will receive a free MAC lipstick.

Joanna Rogers, trading director and VP of beauty at Boots UK, said the company is “so excited for MAC to join the Boots Beauty family”.

“As one of the leading premium make-up brands, offering such a diverse range of colours, formulas and textures, we’re pleased to be making yet another iconic brand more accessible for our customers to explore,” she said.

MAC is not the first major beauty brand to join forces with the high street retailer.

In 2019, Rihanna’s beauty line Fenty Beauty announced a partnership with Boots after being exclusively on sale in store and online at luxury department store Harvey Nichols.

At the time, the singer shared the news with her 90 million followers on Twitter, writing: “@fentybeauty is officially taking over the UK! I’m here to announce our brand new partnership with @BootsUK !!

“Look out for us at locations from MAY 10th!! I’m so excited, I love Boots and I love my UK fans!!! Get ready for #FENTYBEAUTYxBOOTS!!”

MAC launches into Boots.com, Boots.ie and in select stores across the UK and Ireland on the 29 July.
