Verizon Partners Cooler Screens to Power Digital Ad in Retail

Verizon Communications Inc. VZ recently inked a strategic deal with Cooler Screens to extend its digital advertising footprint in order to enhance the in-store shopping experiences of brick and mortar retail stores. The partnership is likely to redefine the way advertisers seek to reach consumers in the aftermath of the coronavirus-induced lockdown, when people were forced to stay indoors and seek the refuge of online shopping facilities for their daily needs.

Cooler Screens is a Chicago-based startup firm that combines retail product merchandising with digital technology to deliver relevant in-store shopping experiences by embedding smart screens into glass cooler doors. The screens are equipped with IoT sensors, enabling them to function as both merchandising and advertising platforms for brands, which can buy ads of various types and sizes that appear on the screens as people shop.

Amazon Launches Smart Stores to Boost Retail Hold in India

Amazon AMZN is sparing no effort to strengthen the retail business in India. This is evident from its new initiative, Smart Stores, which provides the stores with digital log software and a QR code.

The new initiative enables India-based local stores to offer customers with contactless discovery of their products and make payments online.

Under the program, customers will first need to scan the QR code using the Amazon app. This code allows the customers to explore and select the products available within the store. Once the customers have finalized their products, they can then make the payment using UPI, credit and debit cards or directly through their Amazon Pay balance.

Once the transaction is completed, the bill will be delivered digitally to the customer, making it a hassle-free process in today’s time wherein visiting shops is a big risk.
